Interior Design - is it all about the colour?

The beauty of good interior design is its ability to change, adapt, and incorporate influences that enhance the style and function of furniture and finishing touches in a room. The current interior design trends exemplify this in a way that tells a story. With fingers on the pulse of the latest developments, our online shop shares the trends that we are seeing this year. Patterns unfolding that address our needs as society and reflect our environment even more.

Although the Pantone color of the year, ‘Classic Blue’, embraces the cool tones, there are earth tones emerging as one of the interior design color trends in 2020. Olive green, yellow ochre, and burnt orange are shades that not only bring warmth but also bridge that connection to the great outdoors.

Furniture and accessories that mimic natural elements of wood, plants, and metals offer a great opportunity to the designer to create a calming environment that feels like being outside. For many of us spending a lot of time indoors,, especially and the moment, this is a most welcome feeling. You don’t need to go neutral or be too safe, bold can happen in the form of black doors or a chocolate brown sofa. Incorporating these tones can be creative and offer a unique look.

This interior design trend is a reemergence of curvy shapes. Inspired by the 60s and 70s, rounded furniture makes it’s way back but with a modern twist. Strong lines and curved mesh help to highlight the beauty of form. In furniture, we are seeing upholstered pieces like sofas, chaises, and benches designed with undulation and asymmetric lines. It’s common to see curved sofas when searching for interior design ideas because they welcome conversation. Such free-form designs will reach their peak this year giving a nod to more organic formes.

During the current Coronavirus pandemic, we need more than ever to invite the tranquil energy of nature into our homes, this makes perfect sense and design emulating waves, circles, and curves offer a softness we crave.
